There’s A New Socialist In Town

There is a new socialist in town.  Remember when “Better dead than red” was the cry of the 80’s?  Now, four decades later, it feels like we are no longer in America anymore, Toto.  But, this really is a bit of an exaggeration.  Socialism has had its adherents in America for a long time, and one of its high priests in America was the only president to reign for 3 terms – FDR.  We are still better off now than in 1933.  So while we are watching the Lord move in what looks like judgment, we must continue to repent, and renew our minds on what the Biblical answers are.

Socialism is not wrong merely because it bleeds its host dry, but most importantly because it violates God’s law.  Socialism is the economics of theft, and the ten commandments explicitly forbade such State actions.  This Sunday we will be studying Acts 27, looking at God’s servant, Paul, wrestling with the meaning of this proposition: God’s children give direction.  Our world needs answers, and it starts with the Church, the bride of Christ, holding out the solutions based in the gospel.  It ends with the glory of Christ known all over the globe; In between is a transition from humanistic solutions to biblical solutions, which God’s people disciple the world unto.

If you cannot connect the dots from the gospel to free market economics, don’t worry… let us help.  The glorious gospel is meant to change the man, and change the world, and this is all in God’s time.  There can be know better pursuit than the pursuit of wisdom – the application of biblical truth in every area of life.
